      Australian frustration!

I understand that this is not the correct place for this post but I knew that everyone here may appreciate how ridiculous and frustrating it can be to get quality koi in Australia.
This Koi is being offered as an Ogon and the asking price is $800! It also makes mention that it would be ideal to breed from! How are we supposed to improve the quality of koi when people are trying to sell these!

      G'day frustrated Aussi,
To me it is clear that the seller of this fish has no clue what so ever of what is an Ogon.
Many of the Koi keepers I have met here demonstrate little knowledge of the various characteristics that differentiate the standards between classes of Koi we judge. To prove this point you only have to attend a Koi auction and see what prices people pay for some fish. For most if it is colorful it is good. This is not a criticism on those people for beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. However if you want to improve your own stock be extremely critical selecting parent fish, avoid mass spawning and cull ruthlessly always keeping only those babies that have the characteristics you require.
It's an interesting and challanging road un scrambling the mixed up gene pool of Australian Koi. Give it a go and good luck to ya.
      Cheers

looks like what the Coach would call a football. I had one just like that is started out as a yamabuki and ended up a faded football.
Fortunately I didn't have to try to sell it the **** GBH got it.

      G'day all,
Can't help the Victorian's Dalozt it is illegal for them to have Koi. New South Wales and Western Australia are the only states that Koi can be kept legally.
      Cheers

It will be really interesting to attend the KSWA Annual Koi Show on 26th May! Really keen to see who-has-what and I expect that there will be some quite nice koi there!

It's Nice to know there are good fish out there and that shiro muji has good body and scales ,so still a good base fish and if placed with Asagi male could produce Akemi ki goi !
which is a first step towards excellent koi so don't always look at a fish and see the down side there is always a best side that breeding can pull out with the right combo !
un less it's deformed or bent !,so always look for potential and the holy Grail it may just appear in a spawning near you ! as It all started with Asagi Magoi and mutant from it !and Doro goi and Magoi so anything is possable its just a longer Road !.
