I have a Yellow Eared Slider that I bought for my granddaugther four years ago. I have several threads here in the Turtle Forum with pics of her.
I brought back one of these from either canada or florida, he was a residentof my pond for at least 5 or 6 years, got pretty big to, and then one day decided to leave He would winter over in the pond even though I believe he was a warm weather species.

I just recently joined koiphen. Didn't know there was a TURTLE forum! I have EBT's (3-toed). When they were babies I got by with having a "water dish" in their habitat, but as they grew.... Anyway, decided to build a pond (goldfish) with a turtle-safe area of it connected to their habitat. They love it!

I tried that when I had my outdoor pond... I had 3 they all ended up climbing out of the turtle safe area... And where never seen again. I'm sure I could've thought it out A bit better but the aquarium works for now. Mine still has it's "natural" instincts, and won't eat for like 3 or 4 months during winter even though I keep the temp around 72F... I'm probably gonna move it to the garage next winter to hibernate... Probably should this winter but I'm worried it didn't eat enough over the hot months... I'll get it on a better regiment when it starts to take food again.

Let me get my bearings on here a little better, and I'll find some pics to post. As soon as I figure out how to do it, LOL, my avatar will be a nice head-shot of one of my boys.

Regarding my "turtle pond." Before I ever dreamed of a pond, I had a very nice habitat area built for my guys -- takes up about 1/4 or more of the backyard, is turtle-safe and escape-proof. I was getting tired of emptying & changing their water dish [I have 7 boxies], so decided to make a small pond with a filter and recirculating water [that turned into a 3000 gal pond]. The section that was for the boxies was walled off in such a way that they couldn't escape, and I made that part of the pond more shallow, then added a "false bottom" to be able to control the depth. Added gravel, & plants and it turned into a nice little bog area for them..

However, am reclaiming that section of the pond. Have moved their fence back [they're all brumating now, so it's fairly safe to work around], and dug out a bog area, just for them! Still working on that, but it's inside their habitat enclosure and will still be fed by the pond's pump. Going to have a little stream for the return-to-pond. Hoping they'll be just as happy with this set-up. Right now it's all pretty exposed, so one priority will be landscaping, turtle-[plant]scaping, and planting the bog. They're still pretty young and they like the security of having lots of cover when they move around.

All my pics are unavailable at the moment, but will post as soon as I can retrieve them.

I found some pics, but am having trouble posting them. I'm on my iPad -- and the pics apparently either aren't in the correct format, or I'm doing something wrong.

They probably need to be resized. A good size is 800X600. They are probably in a good format.

I don't do anything "i", but on my Samsung Android there is an app named photo resizer. I expect there is a similar app available from the app store.
