You can buy clove oil at practically any store that sells spices. Stores like Walmart, Target, GNC Walgreens and The Vitamin Shoppe sell clove oil.

It is used as a sedative, to put them to sleep while doing any medical procedures. With high enough doses, and long enough time, it can be used to put a koi that is in very bad shape down humanely.

Typically somewhere between 6 and 12 drops per gallon is what is usually suggested. I've used 8 drops per gallon and that seems to work fine as a safe sedative doseage. Be sure to shake it up really well before introducing the fish (oil and water don't like to mix).

Different dosages are based on temperatures of water. Different dosages are also based on the particular situation and condition of koi being medicated. I feel you must pay attention and what you are doing when putting koi to sleep with oil of clove and how they react to it. In other words dosage should be mixed based on different variables of the situation.
      But that's just me.
