To:Stephen and my Koiphen family DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!

Mods, Please move this if it does not belong here:

I have started this post many times before only to cancel because it did not sound right. I just want to tell Stephen and all of the wonderful members of Koiphen just how grateful I am to be a part of the group. I started building a pond about a year ago. My family thought I had really gone off the deep end.
Finding this forum was a blessing. With out the education and support I have received here I would have quit a long time ago. Every time I get down I know I can find encouragement here.
      :comfort:
When I have a question, I know where to find the experts to ask. Their answers are a benefit to all. I am also very impressed and grateful that some of the experts took the time to contact me personally and offer advice, encouragement, and assistance. I will not try to name names, you know who you are. I could never repay you so I will look for ways to pass the help on to other newbies that join our family.

Koiphen family members are always willing to provide support and comfort. Thank you all for the kind words. They mean more than you will ever know.
The Charlotte Koi Show(2004) was the very first Koi show I have ever attended. And now, a few short months later, because of Stephen’s, Kevin’s, and Brady’s generosity along with the work of the Koi Show Committee I will actually be “showing” at the Orlando Show. (Don’t pinch me, because I do not want to wake up!) :snooze: I am the proud owner of two of the grow-out Koi. Check out #41 and #19. Kevin and Brady were very generous in sharing their experience and passion for the hobby. The behind the scenes work of the committee brought it all together. I am also grateful for the generosity and dedication to the hobby of these individuals.

The Charlotte Koi Show was the very first time I had even seen a Koi over 15” and now, thanks to Stephen’s generosity, I will be bringing home some of the “big boys” from the Q-Pond.
      :hot over
All of this is a dream come true for me. I have not only realized my initial dream of having a pond, but through Stephen’s and my Koiphen family’s generosity and support I have been encouraged to dream bigger, and then realized those dreams also.

To me that is what Stephen and Koiphen are about: Building and realizing dreams.
      :Kiss of:
Those determined to tear it down are not welcome here and I am glad.

      Done.

      Kathy,

You're enthusiasm has reminded me when I was first bitten by the koi bug. It's good to see the disease is spreading!

What some see as "kissing up" and "gushing" is actually what most of us have experienced when we were first getting into the pond and or koi hobby. We become just like children again when everything was new. Children just bubble over with excitement and can't wait to share the wonders they have discovered. Any parent will remember those days, and some are experiencing it now, when our small child runs up and shows us some incredible new find, or when they are constantly saying, "Guess what!, Guess what!", or, "Look at this!, Look at this!,.

They are sharing things with us that we have known for many years and sometimes (I've been guilty of it myself) we brush it off casually or even may become annoyed about such trivial things. To do true justice we can't forget that it is entirely new and exciting to them as it once was to us and hopefully there was those that patiently listened and even shared our excitement and helped us to start looking at the things that are most important.

The only failures are those that stop trying! There is a very thin line between procrastination and delayed gratification. You won't be happy with what you want, if you aren't happy with what you have. It's not what you are looking at, but where you are looking from.

Kathy - you said it all so well - there is nothing I can add. But I'm sure most of us here share your feelings I feel sorry for those that cannot understand what we have found here at Koiphen. Thankyou for saying it all so eloquently!

      Gene,
I have admitted for a while that I am in my second childhood. I think everyone should enjoy life.
      EM, Coby,

      I agree whole heartedly!!!!

It seems like my family has had one crisis after another every since we dug our pond 4 years ago....if it hadn't been for the forum I'd be a crazy woman by now( no coments !).
If other people don't see why we feel like we do about Koiphen then it's there loss. When things get out of hand at home I can always come here and you all make me forget by giving me a dream for my pond and the koi I love. You make me laugh and that has so much healing power in itself!!!!!

Stephen has given us the chance to get together here and to learn about the hobby we love along with added fun.. to prove we can learn and have fun at the same time!!

The people here are special...all you have to do is look elsewhere to see what we have is very out of the ordinary!

      Ok... I'm done for now....

You all, especially Kathy, said so well what I've been thinking for months. People here, especially a few who went above and beyond, helped me get through the horrible time with my poisoned fish.

I went out on a limb a while back and started a thread called Potholes ... and I thought, "well that's it, probably nobody will answer and they will all think badly of me." But of course that didn't happen and I knew I had found a home.

I think when I finally meet all of you in Orlando, I'll be reduced to a blubbering puddle!!! I'd better pack a box of kleenex.

This is a great place, with wonderful people, and I'm very grateful to be here.

I have stated prior... my stupid questions (even to the point of nagging) and fumblings have been tolerated here and I have grown... I never felt welcome other places. I have made friends... my family laughs because I talk about people on board so often using handles and real names of people I have never met such as... in a serious conversation once with DH on the plumbing he asked where I got the information and I answered Harvey The Koi, we both burst out laughing to tears and it is still a funny here.

I have enjoyed my short stay here immensely... it's only been 7 months but it feels like i've know you all a lifetime. You contribute to my joy and tranquility. Now if I could only catch up on my other lifes work.

Very well said Kathy. I think you have hit on many points that some of us try to convey in words but don't. This is a GREAT place to be. And I'm looking sooooooooo forward to seeing the koiphen crew again, and meeting even more this trip.

I too am very grateful to Koiphen. I've made a lot of friends, even some near my age. Everyone here is beyond generous, and thanks to K2K I'm learning more about koi and the hobby. I've never seen a "true" koi in my life. I've never even seen a pond! Yes, I think we can all say "ditto" And now, I'm going to be meeting all these friends. Don't pinch me either!

It will be my first koi show and first time showing. I'm just like Gene said, a kid in a candy store full of chocolate!

I've already started packing, made a list of what to bring, yada, yada....

I've said it so many times, but it's worth saying AGAIN. Stephen, you have helped so many people through this website and through your generosity. A lot of us came from other Boards and had friends there. Nothing like here, though. This is home. This is where we enjoy sharing our passion for our koi and ponds and yes, Gary, our plants. It's the homey, welcome, accepted feeling that you can't find anywhere but KOIPHEN. We all cry, laugh, complain and learn together. We know if we need something, all of Koiphen will be there to help us. We know if we screw up no one is going to condemn you for it. UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE. That's it.

Just look at how many people are turning out for the Orlando show. I bet not one other Board or club will have that many people in attendance. And ya know what, it has nothing to do with giving anything away or buying members. It's because we've become a family.

Let the others talk. Talk is cheap. We need to keep on in the direction we're heading and forget about the cheap talk. It comes from others that can't achieve what Stephen and the Koiphen members have done.

Thanks Stephen, Admin, Mods and Members for making this happen.

You know, I've seen it over and over in my life. Good things attract the best folks. Those that try to tear it down just don't fit in so they knock it. Plain and simple...they are on the outside looking in and I'll just bet most of them wish they could be part of something this huge and this great!!! Too bad for them isn't it? Just keep doing what you're doing Stephen and the gods will continue to smile on ya!!! Something as great as this forum didn't get built so quickly because it's a failure...it's because it's GREAT and because of Stephen's vision, the moderators and the members.

It really is an impressive thing that Stephen has done here, surely our gratitude will out-weigh any negativity he gets from a few. It is not what he has that I am jealous of, it is is willingness to share it with others. Keep it up Koiphenator and let the chips fall where they may!!!!
