Out of curiosity, do bright pond lights stress fish out?

That's why we discourage our clients from adding lighting IN the pond. Besides possible electrical current issues which can fry you and/or the fish as the pool-type lights are 110 volt current as opposed to 12/24 volt lighting used AROUND the outside of the pond.

Were using the oase lunaqua 5.1 halogen... the red cover mutes the brightness well enough ...we also have it plugged into an outdoor gfci plug...you could stand in a bucket of water and grab bare copper plugged into it and it wouldn't hurt you

I've never done anything like this before,, I work in juvenile probation ... I have no construction background. This was the toughest and one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. I still have a.lot I want to do and redo ... far from perfect. I still don't have that "finished" look in some areas.... I can still see too much liner in several areas... but all in all I'm very happy.
You should be proud, it all looks so nice... great job there! I'm guessing you're relatively young and that juvenile probation must pay well because you seem to have a lot more energy and spending money than I ever had ... so was any of that labor supplied through some sort of "juvenile rehabilitation" outreach program? Just kidding.

Lol... thanks... I would never let the kids I work with know where I live,,, we definitely spent more than planned..but a lot less than you'd imagine,, all included, about 8k-9k... I only paid out around $500 to day laborers and did the rest myself.... I took off the first week of May and worked 14hrs a day getting it started,, worked on it before and after work plus all day and night the rest of the month then took off the first week of June to finish it up....as if it'll ever be finished... I am, or was, a fitness junkie,,, haven't been to the gym once since starting this project,, I guess lifting stones, shoveling dirt etc etc will have to suffice for a workout,, LOL.... FYI I am 41years old

I remember being down in my first dirt hole at 40 wondering wtheck was I doing... who knew that eventually you'll look back and realize just how young your 40s are/were.

Everything looks lovely and beautiful, healthy plant pics. Love the patio, really nice job.

I'd like to find a single person who could honestly say they stuck to budget... I think everyone can say they spent more than they planned. Last year I told the wife it would cost no more than $2000 tops to build our pond... in the end I didn't even really want to know how much I'd finally spent total. If I would count in all the expenses including the gas for all the trips to the home improvement center to buy and to return stuff... all the endless fittings I purchased both online and locally, the change of plans along the way and those associated expenses, etc. I'm afraid the grand total would proved to be more like $4000 (or nearly so). So this year I told the wife I was going to redo one circuit of the filter system and it would definitely be under $400 because it was all DIY... same types of little expenses cropped up and then added up, stuff I never think about before I begin the project, and before you know it the budget's blown. Now I would guess the grand total ended up at twice my original estimate, however I'm always afraid to add up the true costs, I don't think I really want to know.
