We shine a light in their face at night which stuns them temporarily and then catch with a net and plop into a bucket with holes in the lid and sides then relocate. They are getting crafty though and have learned to be noisy once we are already asleep as opposed to when the lights are still on.

Don't mind the frogs but the toads are way too noisy.

I miss frogs and toads, they have been on the decline here for years. Might see one or two a year now.

Apparently this year I need to be nicer to the frogs...

      Can ship.

Did the DE work? I just bought 4 bags to go around my beehive, it with cinnamon is supposed to deter ants.

DE washes away with rain. I took my daughter's small butterfly net (Target $1 section if you need one they should be back out there soon), and just rounded them all up and moved them. I would take a 5 gallon bucket and a lid and go out and load it up at night, then dump the frogs at the retention pond the next day at the front of the community. I had to repeat that a couple times as during the heavy mating portion I think I removed about 60 or so over the course of a week.

We love our frogs. So far we just have Rana Clamitans, the Green Frog which so far I have only heard vocalize when we approach it. It gives a peep and hops in the pond. Tadpoles apparently take two years to develop to which I'm thinking good luck with the koi.

I've been leaving the skimmer cover off so that the toads can escape. The Green Frogs seem to avoid it but I swear I am rescuing the same silly toad over and over again.

Today it is cool outside, in the 50's. Not a frog to be seen. Where do they go??

The green tree frogs I find hiding anywhere in the dark during the day. They like my pool timer box. One tried hiding in the condensing unit of my HVAC outside, but it landed on a curcuit board and liquified itself. That board had to be replaced (covered under my 10y P*L plan thank goodness). The toads I think end up doing the same, we never really see them unless we get a good rain, then we know they will be out in full force.

A few years ago I had bufo frogs, those are the ones that can poison pets. I got rid of them quickly. Then a bullfrog showed up that I couldn't catch no matter what I did. That buzzard ate HALF of my goldfish. One night I heard a ruckus near the pond and there was a raccoon who had killed the frog. Just left him there for me to clean up.

Sometimes I find frogs in my pond, don't like it. I'll capture them when I can and tell NO No not in the pond, and I put them in the lilypond and tell them THIS IS YOUR HOME, over time they get, really they do.

Get yourself a couple of pet herons. They love to snack on frogs.

The frogs, toads and night things are out in full force this week. I don't do anything with them - well, I do remove the egg strings when I see them. Mine get into the skimmer but can get up on top of the basket until I open the lid. My tree frogs get in the hot tub...how I don't know. Found several itty bitty toads or frogs in the basket today swimming for their lives. I just pitched them out. Also saw a few tad poles in the barrel. Oh, well...if the gooberment needs them, they can come get them.

"Amphibians do a lot of the important jobs," says a USGS statement on the survey study. "They control pests, provide medicines, feed other animals, and help make ecosystems work. They are extraordinary, diverse, beautiful animals. They have social value that inspires art and culture, and they are an ancient source of biodiversity." Didn't know that.

I have to admit that I really love my frogs and toads. I have had them every year except for last year and I missed them. Since I have done what I can to create a place for them, the gardens and yard have less of the bugs I don't like. Rarely do I see the frogs as they are good at hiding, but I do hear them. The toads I often see, and they are in the gardens. Even when I am around, they stay close by. Occasionally, I will toss an earthworm or grub worm at them and they love them. This year, I have several American toads, Blanchard cricket frogs, Gray tree frogs and Southern Leopard Frogs. My female bullfrog that stayed for 3 years isn't here this year, but that's the way that goes.
