No I did not take any pics today, my pots look so much like last years probably not much since in taking lots of pics, I also got my Gageana varigated alocasia repotted plus my lime and calomondin orange and my largest thailand giant colocasia repotted in a large pot. The Bamboo is Timber and I kept some and planted it in dads yard instead of mine,

Wow Gary you got a lot done today! I started at 6 AM and done water changes on three aquariums, cleaned out a closet, then went outside & redone the plantings around the mailbox, deadheaded the roses, sprayed for black spot, put down 12 bales of pine needles around the pond, cleaned the pond filters, fixed dinner and now resting. In a few minutes I need to pay bills online.

I just have to heat up dinner I am having Barbeque country style ribs and baked sweet potato fries, thats after I boil these old bones in the hot tub and wash down a Hydroco/apap 7.5-500 makes it easier to get out of bed.

Sounds like a good dinner. If I had a hot tub I would be in it now.

Gander, that makes me hungry to hear about your great dinner! And Gray Cat, the hot tub sounds like just the thing after all that work you did. How warm is the pond water where you live???

We're in Illinois. My wife is the one with the planting skills, and I really appreciate it. This is the first spring for the plants in the photo (I think they are creeping flocks).

omg you had a busy day! The best part of these kinds of days for me is kicking back afterwards and taking in everything I got done. I drained my pond, caught my fish, dragged most of the stone from around the pond to make a border on my newly enlarged veggie garden, dug out all the hostas and daylilies that were around the pond, took apart the waterfall and painted part of the chicken coop. Tomorrow I will go out at 6 am again and get started. I need to finish taking the pond apart and paint the chicken coop. I have a ton of hosta and daylilies that I need to figure out what to do with - I have way too many. I also need to plant my potatoes, turnip seed, carrot seed and radishes. Oh and I have 6 waterlilies that I need to divide and figure out what to do with since I will no longer have a pond.

      Hi Sadia!

Just curious, if you want to share, regarding your reasons to dismantle your pond. What did you do with the fish once you caught them?

I really like your pond and plants, I have no clue as to water temps here I have tropical water lilies that have leaves floating so its warm enough for some of them anyway. I can barely move this morning, I really need to get those last 4 roses in the ground and 2 gardenias then I have about a dozen or so cone flowers and a black and blue salvia to plant also

We had a unexpected freeze so the three pony packs of flowers I put in a few days ago are toast. I knew I was pushing it by planting so early . I,ve just been craving a little color around here besides brown and green. Thank goodness for daffadils they are blooming their pretty little heads off. Gary you must live in a warm area.

we had a bit of a cool morning the other day and snipped a few of the coleus but nothing else. They are not very cold tolerant at all. I am tired Iam going to have to take a nap before work, My bil came this morning and we got all the roses planted and the gardenias plus I planted 5 more container gardens,

I can't believe how much stuff you plant. Even tho we saw pictures last year, I still hope you will take some this year.

Windsong Acres, do you have a pic of the entire pond? It looks great, and I would love to see more!

Thank you FIT BMX...I have a thread called something like "triple-decker pond at Windsong Acres" which shows the build of it. Here is a pic that was taken last fall before the plants really got going.

Very pretty Gary. I see you don't have any black spot. It is awful on my Hybrid Teas this spring. None on my Double Knockout at all. As my HT's die out I am replacing them with the Double Knockout.

This is an old rose too not as old as your Peace which was developed by French horticulturist Francis Meilland in the years 1935 to 1939 Dortmund is a year younger than I am. It has never been taken care of its in a stand of trash trees and Poison Ivy and Daylilies.
