LOL tricked me with old pictures Gary, I thought you took all the rocks out of the pond, guess I should have read more before replying, but it looked awesome then and now also without the rocks.

Ok this is my Friday. I have not done any yard work in weeks. Now Tomorrow I am going to have to rake up some pine needles before I mow the back yard. Most of the yards are burnt to a crisp but where I have run off water its green. The morning glories are taking over everything I just hate them bstds. Its been extremely hot here lately too hot to do anything. The impatiens are taking over the stream also need to do something there too.

Gary, your place is so beautiful...I think I could look past the weeds...but I know if you don't try to control them each year...you loose control.

Beautiful. Thanks for posting the old pics of the pond bare, hadn't seen those and really shows how BIG it is.
Thankfully we get a cooling breezes every now and again from the Pacific, so after a week of triple digits last Monday we dropped into the 80's, that was a serious yard day. Tomorrow suppose to do it again, so I'll put more effort into trimming.
Isn't that one 'weed' nightshade? I had that growing up my trellis cause I thought it was cool till I found out what it was. First grand baby entered the world and I ripped that out, though she doesn't go out in the yard alone... one never knows, and red berries? Not chancing it.
Beautiful Cleopatra, mine has done well this year... but I'm really excited to see my
Tropicanas (red & black) bloom. Any day now.
Tx, for keeping this thread going, always love to see what's new (or not).
JJ I think that is a red Crape Myrtle that you are seeing if you are talking about the one with Clancy in the pic. We had a storm and the blooms got full of water and it bent the branch down.
Darn its so hot today. I had to go and get kiddie pool to set some of the taro in. They are starting to need water 3 times a day. The Taro in the stream are so happy and growing so good but The lime colored one is going bonkers, the shoe is a size 12 the leaves on the plant are over 2 foot now. its a beautiful plant. The 100 degrees is making it wilt a little but not much.
RE: Night Shade or Crape Myrtle? The picture I'm referring to has a vine that is overgrowing 2 metal cranes/herons. No puppies in the pic.
More pretty pic. Love the canna!
I can believe how good everything looks! My plants are cooking out were!
Bummer on how hot and dry you are (and the whole of the mid-west) wish I could send some Pacific cooling.
Re: Morning Glory... as in "bind weed" or just reseeded pretty ones? I'm fighting those pretty ones this year. Big mistake to plant anything but the big pale blue variety here, as those don't reseed... So I'm being vigilant pulling those little suckers... else I have the same problem as last year, they just eat up an area.
Mine are wild ones farmers call bind weed. They have taken over the place. Some of you dont know but I have 4 acres to take care of. I own my dads place and do have to mow it, my niece leaves there at times. She never ever goes in the yard except maybe to flip a cigarette butt in the grass or set by my pond and smoke when I am not there. Well I dont have time or energy to trim both yards. I work nights so usually only have 2 days too work in the yard. I just cant get it done. I am so ashamed of how my place looks. Yall dont see the bad shots. It would take Mary and I am talking about hard working tractor driving Mary Height. A month of 24 hour days to get my fence rows cleaned and the vines off my my house and all of the trees trimmed. The weeds alone would fill many dump trucks. This did not happen over night it just kept getting worse and worse until I could not get a grip on it. See that one little section of Chain link fence. That is the only section of fence on my 2 acres that is not grown over. Miscanthus and crape myrtles are taking over everywhere too.
One page was not good enough here is more notice the pallets. They came from Stephens pond redo. He sent me I think 9 pallets of rock. They have become a catch all. Mostly they have junk and greenbriars all over them. yes that is poison ivy there is lots of it.
