Progress after a month or two of prep work. We are finally getting some where.
In this shot we are already 2' below the old pond level judging by the cinder block on the right.
Well below the old bottom drain.
It has got to feel good to get to this point.
But we ain't done yet!
keep your eye on the orange handle shovel.
Ended up taking another foot out of the bottom and of course the the hand digging to finish sculpting the shape and hand loading the tailings.
Yes that is the same orange shovel 5' tall.
Thunder thinks this will be deep enough.
Of course supervisors 1 and 2 are no help and Nala never showed.
No cookies for you!
A project is only as good as its foundation.
Now which way does this go?
The first course of block is set in the wet foundation.
Several things of note;
Bottom drains are roughed in.
Airlines for BD also in.
Skimmer is roughed in and pressure tested.
Black drain pipe and french drain below pond is in place.
The GPR line is also roughed in.
A couple days for the foundation to set and Twila helped set block the first half of the day.
After restocking the block. Aaron helped stack the second half of the day.
These were all stacked using concrete construction adhesive. So much faster and level than my mortoring skills.
Sure is fun stacking blocks!
Back to mixing mud.
Bottom drains set and air is hooked up.
Time to mud them in.
Hope that is right!
Almost ready to fill the cinder block cells.
The blue ladder is 6' and the yellow is 7'.
Time to really mix some mud.
Aaron had to plug the dike around the TPR's.
Then we filled the cells and back filled the tight areas around the outside of the pond wall with concrete for support.
Next I formed up the waterfall end.
So no need for tight blocks here as they are part of the form.
The other end had challenges of its own.
How big is your glacial eradicts?
