2012 Dainichi Showa & Sekko Shiro Usturi growout/sale

Hello everyone. We recently started a thread discussing our Shiro Usturi and Showa winter grow out. Since posting this thread we have received some interest in regard to whether we would be selling these fish during our grow out.

Briefly, our intentions were to take what we believe to be the best breed of a shiro
usturi and the best breed of a showa and track there growth and
development over the next 2 years and up to 24 inches. At that point
we would keep some as our personal fish, give some to
friends and family and the remainder, available for purchase at a later
      date.

So for shiro's we decided we wanted to bring them in from Sekko Koi
Farm. As for the Showa's this decision was easy......Dainichi. Well,
we had our mind set on the world famous, 3 time grand champion showa,
Sakura- from Dainichi Koi Farm. Not until we saw the offspring of
Kokugyo did we realize we needed to bring in babies from each female
      champion.

So we have decided, "yes," as apart of our winter grow out, to offer these fish for
sale only to Koiphen members After a discussion we believe it would
be fun and interesting, that if we sell 100 or more fish, and if
Koiphen moderators would assist in hosting a contest for the members
who purchase these fish then we would do it. "Moderators- Your ideas and suggestions, as well as any members, are appreciated." " Also is there a way this thread can be updated to sub-forum so members can initiate their own threads under it." Thank you.

      Contest-
The contest would consist of each member who purchase fish to
photograph and post their desired fish. (No limit on amount of fish.
One pic per fish). The deadline for the first set of photos would
be June 30, 2012. (subject to change) In one year the member would
retake a picture of the same fish and post that in their thread along
with the original photo. The moderators, we kindly ask to be the judges of the fish.
Criteria will be decided later and at the discretion of the judges,
(ie. growth, development, pattern) The deadline for the second picture
posting's will be June 30, 2013. (subject to change)

      PRIZE
As for the 1st place winner (best of show) we would offer the winner a $1,000 gift certificate, 2nd place- $250 gift certificate, 3rd place- $100.00 gift certificate.

      PRICES
Of our 600 shiro's we have hand selected 200 select grade Sekko Shiro
Usturi for sale. They are approximately 5-6 inches. Price- $75.00

Of our 400 showa's we have hand selected 200 select grade Dainichi
Showa from grand champion's Sakura and Kokugyo.

Sakura offspring are approximately 5-6 inches. Price- $90
Kokugyo offspring are approximately 6-8 inches. Price- $100.00

      SHIPPING
Purchase 10 or more of any fish and shipping is free. (48 states)

Shipping- (1 day ground) is only $19.00 for unlimited fish. This
includes MD, DE, portions of VA, middle and eastern PA,
Southeast NY, NJ, and portions of CT.

Outside one day ground/ next day air to the 48 states is only $49.00
      for unlimited fish.

To give you an idea of the true beauty of these fish we have taken
random net pulls from the tanks and photographed them. (pic 1- shiro usturi, pic 2- Sakura offspring, pic 3- Kokugyo offspring). Also attached are pics from Dainichi of Sakura and male parents as well as Kokugyo and male parents.

Entry into the contest is free and not mandatory to purchase these
fish. This is just something we thought would make it interesting as
we can all watch these fish develop over the course of a year in our
      own ponds.

Please respond by stating how many of which fish you wish to purchase.
(example- 2 SU, 1 Sakura, 2 Kokugyo.....total- 5 fish) We will then email you an invoice. We accept Paypal, check and credit card as forms of payment. Delivery
must be made no sooner than February 1, 2012 and no later than June 30, 2012. If delivery is not taken til late Spring the fish will continue to take part of our winter grow out and will still be feed several times a day. Please note that they
will be significantly larger if you decide to take delivery in the late Spring. We are offering this because it is obvious due to the time of year that most ponds are dormant.

Be sure not to miss out on these beauties and the chance to win over
      $1000 in free fish.

We can be reached by email at thekoitank@gmail.com, or by phone at 601-Koi-Tank

Thank you to all who participate.

I may have missed this but do we just get what ever you ship us ? or do we get to choose ?

The first step towards getting somewhere, is to decide you are not going to stay where you are.

Are these fish in NJ now and what is the water temp you are keeping them in?

Stephen- Yes the photo you copied was of Sakura. Her offspring are $90.00

Todder- We have selected 400 select grade koi to offer for sale. Unfortunately at the offered price and due to the extensive time it takes to properly photograph, hold in individual tanks, and post, ship, etc- it is not something we can offer. Therefore the fish you receive will be random from the already 400 pre-selected. Truly, there is not one in our selection that doesn’t exhibit future potential and is sure to please.

Yes, the prices are the same regardless if you wait till the Spring.

KingKong- Yes the fish have been in NJ and are indoors. The SU’s and Kokugyo have been here for approximately 6 weeks. They are just coming out of quarantine. The Sakura’s have only been here for 2 weeks. They have 4 weeks to go, thus the reason we will not be shipping till February. The water temp is 69-70. You can safely move them to a water temperature at about plus or minus 8-9 degrees.

      Crawdad- The Su’s are $75, Sakura’s $90, Kokugyo’s $100. Delivery must be taken by June 30, 2012

ICU2- Thank you. We have been koi hobbyists for the last 15 or so years. We have been selling fish for the last 5 years.

Thank You, we have been selling fish for 5 years now. At first we were hobbist sellers but now were dedicated to selling high quality Japanese imports. We take pride in our fish and would like pass them onto others.

Grading a koi is truly specific to a breeder or a dealer. You could sometimes find a show fish in a premium selection. It is a matter of knowing what to look for. We grade our imported koi into 3 separate categories- premium, aka- standard, (A); select, aka- high quality, show potential, (AA); and future show, aka- tategoi, (AAA). Our imported koi are typically 40% premium, 50% select and 10% or so future show. At 5-6 inches it is not an easy task, nor guarantee that a fish will have or maintain a show potential. At this size we concentrate on conformation, pattern, color depth, development relevant to fish age and size, etc.

So the fish you have in mind for the price mentioned before are netted randomly from 'select'/high quality (AA) fish which is 50% of the Showa population. My next question would be please, how much for the 'future show'/tetegoi (AAA) Showa? Thanks
