Thanks.
Planning out the whole pump room and cabinets in SketchUp for now. Glad I did this. Found several clearance headaches I would have missed

This is going to take forever to build .................... might not have water in it this summer.

Pumps were a bear to make fit. Ended up having separate them vertically to make fit.

Very rbarn
I have thoroughly enjoyed following this build. Doing things normal and cheap is "blah".
I am very curious how you are going to implement your nutrient management. Are you going to automate this as well? Can the neptune system or some other system to automate an Estimative Index methodology for nutrient management ?? I will be very interested to see how you work this out.
What software are you using to layout the piping?? I like the scaling.
Rock on. Look forward to see what you do.

Fish are as healthy at 95 mm Hg Partial Pressure as they are in 125.8777 mm Hg Partial Pressure at Sea Level. Necessity of 100% DO saturation for optimum Koi health is rubbish, derived from breeders whom need big money to pay their prices to keep them in business. Fish's health don't act different due to their price tag!!!
Dosing plan is way down on the list to figure. but yes it will be an automated EI system.

This build is BadA$$

The guy in the pic is looking at his watch thinking man this build is really taking a long time lol.
Can't wait to see it done.
rbarn , you should look this guy up he's in Houston , designed& built his house around his fish tank . http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2202825
KC15 drum filter - 30 micron - 2,900gph max flow (Thanks Norm at BWK !)
I will be having my Apex aquarium controller monitor it and activate the cleaning cycle.
Less than 2' cubed. Very compact and well built, probably weighs 50-60lbs

Switching pump choice. Going with the Pentair i1 - 1hp DC variable speed pool pump.
the sump will maintain proper level in the drum filter and provide for evap and pump start up. It is 48" X 20" X 18" tall.
Plumbing is much simpler now. Pump feeds a single manifold that will feed everything else. Each line will have a digital flow meter so I know exactly how much flow each loop will be running. I ditched the 25micron cartridge filter and pressure pump and the mechanical prefilters on the bio loop
This is my Co2 reaction chamber design I have come up with. The full cross flow will be off the main pump and recirculate back to the sump.

Brown truck dropped this off today
Been reading the instructions. Very neat pump.
3hp permanent magnet DC motor derated by attaching a 1hp impeller to it.
Infinite speed control from 450 to 3450 rpm
4 preset buttons that can be set at any speed you want
Built in clock/timer pump speed schedule programmer - (it will automatically change pump speeds based on an internal timer)
LCD display shows both pump speed and watts being used
ultra silent and cool running and power efficient

low maintenance with lots of fail safes, automation and monitoring is the goal. Trying to make the whole thing as hands off as possible.
I figured out how to control the pump with my Apex controller as well.
Requires the $160 Pentair Intellicomm II interface box. This will give me 4 inputs that I can send an activation signal too and let me switch to any of 4 pre-settable speeds. I cant directly control pump speed, but being able to automatically switch to any 4 different pre-set flow levels should be handy.

Starting on Co2 injection system now. It will be just as over the top as the rest of set up.
1. Dual 20lbs main co2 tanks tied together in parallel
2. single 20 lbs back up tank
3. auto tank switcher - will automatically switch to the back up tank when the primaries drop below 200psi
4. Swagelok dual stage regulator
5. Alicat mass flow controller
6. dual Burkert solenoids in series (this is a safety feature in case the primary solenoid fails in the open position)
7. Mazzei venturi injection
8. dual 20" X 4" filter housings for reactors.
9. Pressure sensors on both the main and back up tanks to tell the Apex controller when they are getting low.
