      Begins and ends with Kanoko.

About six years ago, I bought two gin rin shiro mujis (!!) who were sold to me as platinum ogons. :sigh:

One of these is pictured above, but the second one started developing yellow scales a couple of years ago.

I believe we are looking at kanoko. yes?
Not saying GOOD kanoko, but i believe it is still developing.

The last pic has been used as an example of the kanoko pattern, but is not my koi.

Great job. Wish you could rehome a certain longfin asagi in my pond.

      Two pretty little longfins.

One was last year's baby longfin winner: longfin ki asagi
The longfin asagi was just discovered this week.
Longfin lover, is that the fish you like?

Yup! I think it is a winner! Hope that one turns out extra special. :-)
Is the fellow walking up the bank with a bag of fish taking his home?
Looks like you need a lot of equipment to do a fish pull. Lots of help too. That's a big job!

      Bindi!!! LOLOLOL
why would you have kept Mr. Fugly?
Because of his obviously extremely diverse gene pool?
Do tell!!!! I'm sitting by the 'puter.

I think that is the only picture of him, but I believe he had a fugly little brother. I'm going to go looking for him amongst the 614 photos. BRB.

      Thanks for the high five.

I never thought that I would ever say this, but your GR Shiro Muji are good looking fish...
I assume that the true mujio is female and the one with yellow freckles is male? It might be a koh yoh...or some kind of other kigoi cross.

Listen, you seem to have a lot of beginners luck. Let me stake you in a poker tourney.

yah, they said Henry Ford had beginners luck. They laughed when Christopher Columbus set out to find the new world.
Perhaps i have a GIFT for finding good shiro mujis.

Take another look in the tub. See more kanoko there?
I wish I'd reread that old kanoko post BEFORE i rehomed. We had a bunch with fawn freckles in several colors.

I believe Junichi said that they were scarce = rare = desireable.
Rain, still, it really pleases me when you like my fish.
      no

P.S. i never sexed either of the shiros.

Bindi! We are in luck! Awesome pix of Mr. Fugly!

      Bindi et al,
In my usual trademark "all view" photos (except overhead lol) I have found several pix of Mr. Fugly in the recyle bin.

      Please, really, discuss this fish!

I think that the really unique thing about Mr. Fugly is that you have a olive colored pattern on a white base. And the olive has yellow undertones.
Its unique combination which we really never see in a fish. But of course that could very well mean that these types of fish are immediately chucked into the cull bins in Japan
It would've been interesting to see what happened with it out of curiosity, but beyond that
