      Wayne!!!!!

I have been taking about my GR shiro muji for four years.
      Prem!
      where are you!
      Prem! where you at, man?
You got some crow to eat, buddy!!!!
      Here, kitty, kitty.

I love the look of this white asagi. Now i have to stop thinking bad thoughts about the ppl who sold it to me as a plat. ogon.
ahhhhh, forgiveness is a wonderful thing.

Glad you enjoyed the show, Wayne, and thanks for the feedback. I'm afraid I have cast my fate with "the ki shusui with a twist project" and will not be breeding any more types deliberately. That said, I'm glad I hung onto those black and whites. I thought they were awfully sturdy and their patterns very balanced.

I'm also very interested in those last fish I posted as big strong babies. (what are they?)
by the way, i give the credit for anything good that came out of this spawn to the Japanese breeders, mother nature, and my addiction to buying koi on internet auction.

      Wayne, you made my day.
      Brilliant!

Rain, I have it on good (anonymous) authority that that metallic thingy is a spit-shined cross between a midori and a shusui and yes it does have GR. Again, I have no midori in that pond, but anyway, we seem to have consensus that it is a metallic midori. my anonymous source also says that you love that fish and want it for yourself and that you should come clean and admit it!

I told your anonymous source that you have, by accident, bred 6 out of 10 of the world's rarest koi

      Hi Max,

I don't know what you have, other than a really cool Koi, but I don't think it can be a Midori in that it has a pattern. Midori are a solid color Koi. Here is a pic of one that is Doitsu and one that is Wagoi.

Maybe it is a metallic Ki Shusui.

I see what you're saying russ. those midori are beautiful. metallic ki shusui is exactly what it looks like == or as rain says, gin/kin sui. i have kin sui in the ki shusui pond and they don't look like this, much more shiro, but we'll look at them up close in a couple of weeks.

The yellow and white babys are koyogoi ,the red and blue are hi asagi and yes the long fin are ki asagi but could go white and become long fin koyogoi !

also you have a nice adult doitsu kujaku nice red to this, and your baby midori goi could be from kujarku & hariwaki spawning ! as you get this now and then as the doitsu genes from shusui and a small persentage go green down the backs but form a nice metallic green lustre !also this type can come from orange ogon and shusui and also produces kinsui and ginsui ! but you have quite a gene pool to choose from but if you spoted these fish spawning with what males may give you a clue !

so it just needs a little detective work ! but you have some nice koi at the end of the day and plenty of them ! looks like a large harvest so well done !

wayne, that large orange ogon is pregnant every single year. same with that white-ish matsuba. i have so many shusuis in the pond, including longfin shusuis, that it seems a cross between those two types is possible. When they spawn, they kick up a lot of mud, and all i care about then is fending off the birds.

thanks for enlightening responses, all a y'all.

Q: How many jelly beans in the jar?
      A: 575 +/-

25 or so , most of the babies I posted on this thread, went back into the learning curve pond.

But, a few dodged the net.

yes, you were the first fan of the GR shiro muji

Darling I bred ones by accident, and had lots of those bekko type fish. Lots of doitsu type too. That was last year before I new they were Koi. Thought they were big goldies.
Here is a link to my babies on FB, but they were awfully ugly so I gave/sold most and left 2 only.
The one that was born last year october is now close to 40cm=16".
      http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...5388105&type=1
Here on the picture they are like 5 month old and they were close to 30cm some....I used to cook for them...and they bred 2 times within 2-3 month.

Flock Spawn Jamboree 2012 Edition!

      The rumors are true!
We drained and seined the "Learning Curve Pond" on 10-18-12, and here's the post pull wrap-up.

-- I got panicked about encroaching cold weather and didn't let out sufficient water for a complete pull.

-- accordingly, some wily koi evaded the net.

-- however, 795 koi were rehomed! (720 of them were in the 1-2" category)

-- and a pretty butterfly asagi was discovered

-- and a new motto, "The koi hobby begins and ends with kanoko."

Pictured: Big Mama, Louise, Peta, Big Yama, Bunny, Angel Face, Suzy, Yowsa, the GR Shiro Muji and Creamsicle. They're pets! This is the Learning Curve Pond! They were spawned in Japan! They crapped out! Of course!

Several favorites, namely Gloria, Skydancer, Mardi Gras, and Midas evaded the nets and were undisturbed by the activities.

Coming up, the former GR Shiro Muji, who went Kanoko.
