I am considering installing a Turbovortex as a prefilter on my skimmer circuit to replace a large strainer basket, that is a nuisance to clean. I searched the forum and found several reviews on it which weren't very good, however it was installed on bottom drains whee it would get a lot more debris, so I'm wondering if anyone is using it as a prefilter on a skimmer circuit and how they like it. I'd really like to use a Cetus sieve, but can't figure out a way to use it because of the design of my pond. I have 2 skimmers each on a 2" line that feeds into a 4" main line to a 1/4 hp pump. Everything I have read says that the two 2" lines is not enough to gravity flow to the Cetus. It is cost prohibitive to replace the 2" lines so that is not an option. Placing the Cetus after the pump defeats the purpose of the install, so I'm left with some sort of pressurized prefilter. William Lim has a unit that would work, but it is more than twice the cost of the Turbovortex. I'm not keen using a bead filter as I doubt it would be any better than a Turborvortex an the cost is higher.
