having to deal with replacing my camera we had to miss the awards ceremony today. I did get a picture of the trophies yesterday though.
Thank you Kari and Russ.................very educational.love it
Russ I've noticed in a few pictures some very lovely Sumi Goromos such as the one in #212........ What are your thoughts? And what are the minimum requirements you look for in judging?.........

Thanks, Rick! I wish I could take some credit, but Russell has been the one to do all of the narrating (so far.... )
I knew you would appreciate them...being a hobo and all
With Russell's camera on the fritz, I though I'd take a few pictures to show you what our day was like yesterday. In the morning we packed our bags and headed to Shinagawa Station to head west to Isawa.
All journies start with but a single step. This is how we start ours...
The train stations in Tokyo are not as busy on Sunday as they are on a work day. On work days, people politely crowd the trains like matches in a matchbook. The station near our hotel was like all of the Tokyo stations, lots of people briskly walking to their departure points.
The train stations are built on 2 levels. The upper level contains areas that have the ticket sales offices and passage ways from one boarding area to the next, mixed with stores in between. The lower level is the boarding area that on busy days are full of ques of passengers waiting for their train to arrive.
When we arrived at Shinjuku Station, Russell bought tickets for the express train to Isawa, and we stopped at one of the many small convenience stores to pick up some lunch for the train ride.
These pictures were snapped on the train ride to Isawa.

I took these last few pictures outside of Isawa Station while we waited for Miwa to pick us up.
Hi Jorge,
I have to correct you in that these are Ai-Goromo. I thought that these were two of the best in the show. When I look at them my first thoughts are how they present themselves. Some Koi stand out and some don't. If it stands out I look at why. It must have a good body line and excellent quality above anything else. How it presents itself is very important, this is where character and overall look come in. Pattern isn't as importnant to me but it can make a difference in how I feel about a Koi. Pattern, for me, is very subjective.
