      flock spawn babies

I was in the QT today with net, bowl, and camera... so I figured an update was in order.

These are the flock spawn babies (Sakai bloodline) from the 2009 Ikeage. A few of us took home some interesting ones. As they start to grow I'm liking the hi showa more and the Orenji less (I was hoping it would turn more benigoi).

I hope Dan (danzcool) sees this and posts snaps of his flock spawn babies. I know Russ also kept a number of them.

      Ah..Brad...

      Is that a Ki Bekko?

I know someone else who has one.

      Looks female

Hope to see it in San Diego next year.

      I still like the orenji.
When I get home I will take pics of the ones I took home. If you don't mind I will post them here on your thread.

Both of these have a real orange look to their beni (almost a construction orange), which is somewhat common of some of Toshio Sakai's blood lines. If they stay true to the blood line then the beni will turn more to the red color as they mature... but don't expect fire truck red.

I really think the first one is a hi showa. I see sumi on the left side of mouth and below the lateral line on it's sumi stripes. If bekko it would be a akka bekko, not a ki bekko. Maybe you need to adjust the rabbit ears on your monitor.

Both kinda do look female, but both are too young to check for milt. Time will tell.

You may well see me at the show, but I don't show my fish. You are welcome to come look at them in my pond though. Maybe a side trip when you come up for the Gardenia show.

Please do post them. I'd love to see how they are doing. I intended for other to add their snaps, but I just couldn't remember who else besides Russ and Dan who took some home.

      Citrine and Tiger

I moved these two characters from the QT to the pond this morning. They are finally big enough and I think they have developed nicely. Plus I need a bit more orange to the color pallet of the pond.

I took quite a few snaps... In the bowl at the QT, then a few in the bag floating in the pond, in the bowl at pond side, and then some of them in the pond with my crew.
