Thank you guys. I like P032 too but I am afraid it has the weakest Beni of all. If it does not brake down on me it will be great because of the snow white Shiroji. I will cross my fingers watch closely and hope!

Out of all of Richards fish I have had or still have here (3) the beni has never broke down. So I don't think you have a worry.

I also have several of Richards fish, the beni has never broken down on any of mine either. And the sumi has only gotten better. I started out with some very small fish from SJKoi, and they have all just gotten better and better.

Nice...I like the first one as well. Hopefully the tail will stretch away from the beni and give you a nice o-dome (or however you spell it)

032 is a pretty nice fish, but I think it will be a slower grower. #020, the Sanke, has the body line for a really big fish and I would be it is from the Matsunosuke crossing. The kiwa is exceptional and the sashi appears very tight as well. I see some sumi under the beni on the shoulder area that should come up over the next two seasons. This fish has the body and skin to allow it to grow fast without breaking down. It will take 4-5 years for it to fill out that frame however. That's just how Matsunosuke fish develop, so don't be impatient with it. I personally feel it will be the one you end up keeping and enjoying for a long time.

Thanks Mike for your take on the fish. P020 was my first pick on the first round. I was lucky because I was third so I had many choices. Out of all the choices I had, this one seemed to me to have the most potential for growth with good quality. On round two, I was third from last so I had to make the best choices from what was left. Even so I am overall reasonably happy with the fish, even with the ones that were not my first or second or third or..... choice.

I got my Koi last Friday. Unfortunately, the P15 Sanke did not make it to me because of a bacterial infection. To top it all off the fish arrived all bitten up from FedEx.

They had pocked a hole nail size in the bottom of the box that went thru the double bagging of the fish. The box was all wet and with a crumbled up bottom.

Thankfully, the fish was alive despite the water in the bag barely covering less than half the fish. Even though I was home with my garage door wide open the FedEx driver left it in my front portico and did not even ring the bell. I saw it almost an hour later.

The fish was banged up, stressed and had signs of bruised mouths and the P20 Sanke had a good cut in the right eye socket. Shame because I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this fish.

I especially like the P20 Sanke, which I hope that will fully recover, and definitely as Mike said looks like a long-term keeper.

Good job Richard on breeding these fish! I will definitely keep an eye on your work in the future.

I forgot to say that the fish is doing very good and for a fish that recently went thru all that stress is very relaxed and very friendly.

      Again good job Richard!

A quick update on Richards' fish.

They are not very fast growers and the P32 Kohaku has outgrown the 20 Sanke quite a bit. The skin quality on all 3 fish is amazing and they are getting better every day. P20 and P32 are most likely (90%) females. The S66 I did not catch to check but it is most likely male.

The skin quality and luster on the Sanke P20 is out of this word and can compete with any import of 10 times the price I paid for it (kudos to Richard). The body however is not looking to be the big fish I hoped for it to be.

In the other hand the P32 Kohaku has develop a very powerful body with big head and broad shoulders. Her skin is excellent with very soft thick orange Beni. She looks great and I am very optimistic about her.

The S66 Kohaku is still the smallest of the three, but has grown a lot and almost is caching up to the Sanke. The skin quality and the Beni are first rate. It lucks in pattern but the quality is there.

Overall, I am very pleased with these fish and I feel sad that I was not able to get my P15 Sanke now that I know how good these are growing.

On the down side, I NEVER got my refund for the Sanke (P15) that I did not receive from Ned do to ulcerations.

I sent emails, left messages but no response for the past 2 months. Prior to that, I have an email and a PM from him saying that he would go ahead and refund me the money. Unfortunately as of now, I have received nothing.

It is very strange because my impression of Ned is of a very honest person and businessman.

So if Richard or Ned see this I would appreciate receiving my refund finally. I am sure it has been an oversight but if you check your records, you will see that I have still to get it.

      No pictures?

My Kohaku is very nice, Big head and shoulders, A little short so I wonder if she will strech and grow longer. The beni is very soft orange and I keep wondering if its going to break if not the pattern is very nice and she'll be a very nice fish.

Jorge I do not think the beni on your fish will break down. Mine were in a 4 foot tank, indoors with little artificial light and not only they did not break down but improved.
Sorry I did not post pictures. I realized after I released them in my outdoors formal pond couple a weeks ago, that I did not take any pictures of them.
The reason that I posted was that yesterday I was looking all the small fish in that pond and I noticed the big improvement Richards fish had and felt compelled to tell. I promise I'll have pictures soon.
The skin quality on your Kohaku looks great (better than my kohakus) but the luster on the skin of my Sanke is really amazing and smokes them all.
