I'm building one for integration into my pond rebuild (it will be hidden INSIDE the waterfall basin). However, I've started building mine out of 4" pipe with a 1.5" outlet (with ball valve, of course). My tee is a normal 4" x 4" x 4" due to the lack of availability of reducing tees in my area. In addition, I've purchase a 4" sweep 90 for the outlet since this extra distance is needed to get the foam up and out of the waterfall basin.
Questions:
i) Is the 4" foam outlet going to be acceptable for a 4" model FF?
ii) Will the sweep 90 cause any trouble, or will the pressure of the foam itself just keep pushin' those bubbles right out?
I'll let the experts chime in here, but following my experience just building one of these, I would advise giving yourself maximum flexibility at first with what reducers / sweeps for the foam portion of the unit you use when building this. Try to not glue the foam outlet and play with different variables until you get a balance.

Quick question, I only could get a 3 way 6" instead of a 6x6x4 for the spillway. Is that going to effect anything negatively or was it just for keeping cost down? I could keep looking if needed as I am just getting parts right now. Also was the 1500gph pump for the 6" pipe size unit?

Started mine yesterday. Thinking about having the 2" outlet run next to the waterfall side as if I had it where it currently is, it would just keep skimming the clean water. The pump will be in the skimmer box.
Great to see! Keep these babies coming!

Finally set up the FF! Quick question, we got a lot of foam last night but do you think the plastic outlet added on to the end of the 90 is hurting the flow of the foam out? Or does it not really make a difference? Was just trying to keep it clean so it doesn't foam onto the wood haha. This pic was taken in the afternoon so not much foam.

probably doesn't matter but I'd add something a tad more airtight otherwise it will get on the wood still....

Got it running today! One question about the flow, I have a valve on both input and output and on high flow, there are air bubbles from the tower that disrupt the bubbles being made. I can adjust both valves to make it smooth at the level in the diagram though.
Ethan has this thread covered guys re Phoam Phracs`
I have my water level set like the pictures show, there is not a smooth flow in the foam exit. It gurgles from air bubbles where the water crashes down the tower. Not sure if is supposed to be like that or not.
yes, thats pretty normal. I would make sure that the water level in the TEE is basically "full" in the bottom of the Tee.

Gotcha, didn't know if that gurgle would mess with the foam process. Mine has made about 3 inches of foam, and I still have yet to add the bio balls as I had to order some. Definitely a great diy!
Anyone try lithaqua in the phractionator?
Wondering if it would eventually clog
