Ideas for new categories - for next year

I really enjoyed showing last year and in this year's show !!! While showing online is a very different experience than a conventional show, it is a very enjoyable show, and a great new dimension to playing with our fish.

Is there a chance we could add some new categories to compete in? With the new show software, it could be easy to add them. And to keep it cheap, instead of mailing ribbons for these new categories, the winners get a "virtual ribbon" which is a graphic of the ribbon with their name written on it.

Like how about "Born In Your Pond" category? Same judging criteria, just that the only fish who can enter, must have come from a spawn in your pond.

Last year I posted some redneck koi category ideas - but I am sure the community can come up with some really interesting ideas.

Figure we are breaking new ground by having an internet koi show, so lets keep heading into new territory and add in extra categories.

I think the ribbons, as long as sponsored, should be real. Motivation to do it again.

I like the home bred category.

I'd like a best of your tank award too- no ribbon needed, but helpful for those just starting

We are considering adding a Breeder/Dealer section as well to the show next year so they can show off their stock.

If any Breeder/Dealer out there would like to head this up please pm any one of the committee members.

a Breeder section would be cool. Dealers with more buying power than another, that's not somehting I'd be interested in seeing...but the breeder portion, yes....

I have a thought for a category that just about everyone can enter. The ugliest koi in your pond!!!! I may have an advantage, 4 ponds with plenty of ugly fish!!! I had the opportunity to see a bunch of ponds over the summer and I was amazed at some of the fish people had. This may get a bunch of people to participate in your contest. I also like the breeders section!!!

Best critter, best bug, best pond landscape, theres probably quite a few categories that would draw a diverse crowd to a broad church online

      Best pond decoration?

Don't see how we could do a home bred pond, as it would be kind of hard to prove whether it was really a spawned in your pond koi or not.

There would be no competition for the ugliest Koi, it's here in central Oregon and called KOIZILLA

Koizilla would have to be exempt from the contest... no celebrities allowed.

I like a growout category. We only enter the koi we purchased here from past growout competitions.
I also like the home bred koi idea.

that is one category that i can compete in at least

it needs to be a top view category though as wakins are viewed from the top

I think definantly bred by exhibitor is one I would like to see.
I think A domestic Koi and Goldfish would definantly be a nice catagory
I agree that there should be a catagory for the most unusual koi and goldfish for those fish that cant/dont meet standards crosses, hybrids, single eyed, blind ect ect the best of the rest catagory LOL This culd actually be something done either at the show or just for fun and utilize the show program to "try it out"before for the next show or just for fun sometime.
      Over all grand/reserve champion Koi
      Over all grand/reserve Longfin Koi
      Veil tail Goldfish
      Wakin Goldfish

And what about the first 8 entries free and $5 per fish additional up to 16 total so then lets say I was tank 69 and I want and aditional tank for 8 more entries then I would pay $40 to the WWKGS for the extra tank? An Idea to raise more money for the show and possibly more entries too.
