    19" ginrin Suda Kohaku

Purchased as tosai in April, 08 at 5-6", ended 2008 at 14-15".

Now 18-19", thinking male although not sure. Nice long body, ginrin completely uneven, no tail stop, but a pattern that catches my eye in the pond.

not everythign can be a show fish, right? Wavy water messed with that first picture. It doesn't look that funky in person.

    A $45 expense.

    Thoughts?

hey, i might be mistaken but think you may still have a female on your hands. something about the fins...anyone want to chime in on boy/or/girl?

    either way, nice for 45$

There is no large leading ray, but the fins are somewhat big. I just don't know. I turned it over, but no little weenie.

    lol Ethan.

    im' guessing female.

round fins, and good girth (of course that could be from your toxic water!)
    nice fish Ethan

how come you didn't sex it? mind as well since you were bowling it for picture taking. just turn it over and check it out really quick.

looks male to me too. pec fins indication is not that accurate.

good 45 bucks investment but not my taste.

I haven't sexed a fish before, besides looking at gill plates, which isn't necessarily accurate.

i lean towards female because the fins look delicate and do not have a thick/big leading ray. see how the water bends the fins a bit? males this size from what I have seen, their fins don't bend like that when they wade through the water, because they are usually thicker and harder.

    there are two ways....

    1. for sure, gentle squeeze, if white milk comes out, then you know it's a male for sure
    2. rough gill plate, feel like sand paper. it's a male for sure
