      Some of My Larger Koi

Here are some of my personal larger koi. As you can see, I am not having any issues with growth... I know that the shusui and ochiba are not the greatest but all my friends love them, so they stay (I think) ...

It could be possible that some are male that is the problem when you buy koi under 8" as you can't always tell the sex of the koi... I want a big female chagoi/ochiba in the pond when I get the extra space as they are one of the friendliest koi. We had one this summer that was about 29" and it would follow you around the pond and would let you pet it. It came to you like a dog...

Actually,a few years ago (3) I bought a 2-year-old chagoi and when she came she was skinnier that your ochiba, but a couple of months of heavy feeding temps made a HUGE difference. I had paid a lot of money for her and was kinda disappointed until I saw how fast she grew and bulked up. Worth every single penny.

I lost her a couple of years ago,Russell. I caught a fairly good shot of her shortly before losing her I'll post if I can find it. Or maybe you caught it when I posted it elsewhere.

Sorry to hear about your loss... I know it is pretty bad when you loose one that you really are attached to.

Here is another GR Ochiba that I was growing out to see if I liked it. I enclosed pics of it small and larger. It had a really good pattern and then the back half of it faded??

I'd love to see a picture of it before the pattern went south. DO you have one of before it faded? I like me some ginrin ochiba.
