I think we are going over board for a 2300 gallon pond. We can make a Zakki Sieve with two inlets, SO run both the BD and skimmer into the Zakki Sieve, then use a bit smaller pump than Mike...
I think in your case location and convenience is more important than size. I would put the pond where it is easiest for you to relax by. I don't like under the tree, but I don't like using a 27...
Depends on source water. Remember Roddy Conrad, his source water was worse than his pond water. I shoot for less than 50 ppm Nitrates. And also 60 ppm TDS (my source water). Most people will...
I have seen out Oregon Temps get below 0 many times and a covered pond should be OK exept, if you have a purer outage and loose your pumps the whole works will freeze in no time. A generator is a...
The polypropelene liners I sell made by BTL are UV stable
The ES is a low head/high volume pump.
The ESS is a medium head/medium volume pump.
Also the ESS is a self priming pump where as the ES in not self priming.
Back in the old days the ESS had a much...
I don't see any need for check valves after the Ultima.
You can use the 5500, you will just have to pinch down the discharge.
I am a little late with seeing this but still want to help where I can.
Go with a 4" BD, 3" won't be enough.
That is true. The deeper you go the harder it is to have really clear water. I consider 4' minimum. My ponds are 7' and 9'. Both deeper than need be. Didn't really do me any good. Had just as...
Flow wise, equipment wise, I think a two bottom drain pond is the best. You can run both BDs and a skimmer through one Aqua Forte 111 sieve or RDF of your choice. Either a sieve ir RDF will save...
Sandy, pinching the outlet of a pump does not "waste power". Pinching the outlet, work created goes down, power needed to create work goes down, electricity usage goes down, power bill goes down.
10 lbs for $75.
Kenzen is the best food I have ever used. Provides excellent growth and never clouds the water.
That's really looking great. You can be proud of yourself.
At 1st a lot will float and go out. Then after time it clumps and does not fluidize well when flushing. It's just not very consistent like sand.
Don't use Oyster shell.
Makes no difference on the pumps life.
Pictures of this years winner, for the 3rd year in a row. Congratulations Jeff. (Catfish Whiskers)
I use only long sweep DWV fittings as shown in the back. They have only a 3/4" socket and hold up just fine. Most low pressure/high volume pond pumps will never come close to over pressuring these...
Couldn't agree more.
Awe the good ole days, never saw Gordon run so fast!
Sounds to me air is going out with the water and forming a air pocket in the outlet line which is stopping the flow. Can you add some sort of vet pipe to the outlet line. Here's a couple of...
As others have suggested make your sides as vertical as soil will allow. I like a concrete collar, otherwise your coping rocks will settle, shift over time and might possible even fall into the pond.
The new EVO UVs are a best buy. We will have them by weeks end. Give me a call if you want to discuss them. 541-408-3317
Most likely not. Remember your supporting several hundred lbs of weight/
I was just going to say this but you beat me to it.
I always like to see DiY projects but with Home Depot selling the black with yellow lid storage bins so cheap it just makes no sense to DIY a container anymore.
Wiring looks really nice Cheryl.
When placing large rocks around the edge of a pond I always use a strong concrete edge to set the rocks on, and if needed, rent a back hole to help like in this case. Rocks placed on soil will...
My experience with matala or any kind of matts has not been good compared to the good ole Sand/Gravel filter.
This is exactly why I sell Advantage pumps. They have never refused to help out my customers.
I use DWV fittings excluslivly (back) because they flow much better than sc 40 fittings. (front) I have never had a problem with them.
As long as it's still high enough to gravity flow back to the pond.
S30 will cure underwater so you can re-fill your pond right away.
That priming pot will screw directly onto the ESM 2500.
I heard Lim was no longer in Buss.
Call me, I can get those pumps also but they are made per order.
They can be plugged into a ext cord if the cord is heavy enough. (12 ga. wire)
The noise you are hearing is rusted bearings. That motor can be rebuilt either by the factory or a local elec....
Start out by reading "Filtration Basics" in the stickys. You need to understand pond requirements to maks educated choices for equipment. If you want to discuss your options please feel free to...
I also sell several choices for variable speed pumps. If your interested give me a call.
The Evolution ESBB 10500 is rated at 10500 gph @ 5 feet of head, 1/2 hp motor only draws 540 watts. Runs super quiet. And pretty hard to beat for the price.
Your drawing will work just fine. One valve to force water through the UV. Steve's 2nd valve would be a nice addition.
If you go with a conventional design yes you need two BDs. I would suggest a river flow design where all the water enters a shallow end and flows to a deep end. If using a Cetus Sieve which is a...
You say you really like bogs, have you actually ever had one?
Take a look at the 55 gallon DIY Sand/Gravel filters.
