They have you well-trained!
I missed this! Your herd is beautiful Stephen. Great to see you posting pics!
I have found that Carolina wrens can be pretty tame. I've had them land on my head or shoulders while I'm in the courtyard. They will sit there for a few minutes then fly off.
Does this just treat green water or will it also get rid of string algae?
I am probably going to use Nualgi in my pond ... but my question is, does it treat string algae? I don't have green water but LOTS of string algae.
I now have two kinds of algae in the pond ... string algae and some stuff that looks like scum on the water. This stuff is coating all the rocks in the waterfall. I get my disability check on April 3...
Sure is pretty!
I don't have a phosphate test. In April when I have some money I'm going to buy the Nualgi that Russ recommended.
I have never had koi in my pond, just goldfish. And right now there's only one in there. I would never try to have koi, or even a large amount of goldfish for that matter, in so small a pond.
My one lone goldie sulked a bit when the water got cold, but he snapped out of it pretty fast. The coldest our temp got was 31 on just one night. We are very fortunate.
Frank will you have other water plants too? I will need some but have to wait until my April check gets here.
As soon as I have some money in April I'm going to try this stuff.
I have an 800 gallon pond. Not sure how to convert ml to ounces or teaspoons for my pond.
It's pretty pricey ... but it sounds good.
I just did a water change day before yesterday. I'm bummed.
My test results show 0 for ammonia but 20 for nitrates. How do I lower the nitrates?
I just had my pond cleaned of algae last week, and already the string algae is back with a vengeance. I wanted to buy a shade sail to cover the pond and keep the sun out, but the smallest I could...
This is the first time I've had string algae. It's because I had the big rubber tree that was shading the pond cut down. Guess I will have to buy a shade sail. I just had it all cleaned out of the...
I used to have a Dreampond that was only 4' wide and held 130 gallons. I can't remember what I paid for it ... maybe you could look on Craigs List to see if anyone is selling ... that's where I sold...
I may be missing something, but your pond doesn't look large enough for koi.
Very pretty goldies!
I have a pond full of algae too. It started after I had the large tree that shaded the pond cut down. Someone is going to clean it for me, and I was wondering if a plastic rake would do the job. What...
It's very common for goldfish to lose their black coloring. I don't think there is much you can do to prevent it.
You're not far away at all. Love Acropolis ... the napkins, plates being broken, etc. It's fun!
Wondering where you live. I live at Vieux Carre Condominiums off of 4th, south of Fletcher.
Birds can contribute via birdie poop. :)
I'm going to have to do something ... ever since I got that huge rubber tree cut down the pond is full of string algae. I don't have the money right now but will probably be in the market for some...
Congrats to you Rain. Great choice.
I think it would be inhumane to put koi in a 100 gallon "pond".
That is MUCH too small for koi.
Merry Christmas everyone!
My dog and fish are extremely well fed. Me, I eat ramen.
I have seen many times that people answer these posts with downright incorrect information. Then it falls to others to clean up their mess and steer the OP in the right direction. I also think it's...
Very nice collection!
Bet it stinks to high heaven!
My lone goldfish just about creates riptides swimming over to me when he sees the food bag!
That's so sad the morning after a freeze. I remember it from Illinois ... depressing.
Sorry for your loss.
Usually it's the opposite. Not sure what to tell you.
Ryukins are more susceptible than most goldfish to cold water.
Looks much better, and much healthier for the fish.
My one lone sarassa in the pond is getting pretty large. He mostly eats shrimp brine flakes, along with fruit and veggies. Sometimes the maintenance guys bring him worms which he LOVES! One of these...
Wish I could!
