Org 1, I read your post as you are wanting a plant for your small pond that would provide shade for your koi. Lilies do provide the best shade. Since your fish are still small, your plant should be...
Have you tried asking local garden centers or landscapers if you can have the nursery pots when they take the plants out of them and plant them in landscaping jobs? They are usually happy to give...
That looks great! You can divide them before winter, but do it as soon as possible so the plants will have as much time to adjust as possible.
