Plants/Trees poisonous to Fish. Questions:
Hi,
I wanted to plant some evergreens, small ones (schrubs and trees), close enough to my pond. I would never use a fir, pine, laurel, rhododendron, or azalea, as these are either toxic or grow too large eventually and will fill the pond with needles.
1. I was considering, since I live in the northeast the Sweet Bay Magnolia Tree ["Henry Hicks"; Magnolia virginiana var. virginiana]. Does any one know if Magnolia should be unhealthy should koi ingest seeds or flowers?
2. Could someone recommend, as a border (to screen out the neighbor's property) an evergreen that is non-toxic and native to the north-eastern states?
thanks,
steven
