Sounds like a good plan.
Looks great. Love the shed idea. That's a good looking one, too, especially for being a pre-fab style. I'm going to have to keep that in mind when I start my build next year. Are you going to insulate the shed any more or leave it as is?
Cole
I'm going to insulate the foundation walls and also insulate the interior as I plan to heat it this winter. When I did the foundation I used 6" block and the walls are only 1 1/2" so this will leave me plenty of room to add 2' foam board to the interior. I'm also considering putting a main floor in it and putting a QT tank there. I think I would have enough room to build a floor in the back part and a small walk way down the side and still have plant room for everything in the lower section. Just want to make sure I don't trap the RDF in there, if for some reason I had to take it out.
Finally got all the rocks set on the beam, also added the side stones to the water fall. I really wanted a spot to hand feed the fish so I made a feeding platform on the left. Also on the right side of the pond will be where my stream comes in. Found the rock for the small waterfall that will be there. I also got the back wall done on the left side. Going to have a ton of mortar work to pull it all together. Really glad I brought so much stone home. Was having a tough time finding the right stones. I do have about 6 or 8 really nice flat and tall ones that I will use on the patio side. They will be great sitting stones for the edge of the pond.

dang .looking good man
Looks awesome kyle! I have a really large and thick piece of slate that I was contemplating on hanging over the edge and securing it to the bond beam. A place to sit and dangle our feet in the pond. Not sure im gonna do it or not yet though.
Ill be watching intently to see how your mortar work goes. Take lots of pics for me please!
Thanks, how's things coming out there?
Will do, have been working on getting the color right on the mortar, think I get that dialed in. Trying to figure out how do finish the top of the waterfall. I have a 4' weir, at first I was going to sit it at the top of the top rock. I really didn't like all that plastic sticking above all the rock work. Now I think I'm going to try to hide it and mortar it in. I want to try to take the ridge on the large side rocks and follow it all the way around the back side of the weir. I have the picture in my mind, just got to put it all together. Lol
If it were me id foam it in place. Also place some smaller rocks on the outside edges of the weir to hide those some. You can let the foam harden up some then place some gravel in it so you don't see foam. You can also throw dirt or sand on wet foam and it will camouflage it. Not sure how mortar and plastic work together. Idk if it would make a water tight seal. Last thing you want is water flowing under your spill stone instead of over it.
Check out the pond digger on youtube. He does well hiding the waterfall weirs.
Nice rock work, too bad their so small and light! :like:
So is the groto going to be your waterfall?

Grotto design is pretty sick! Having the light a plumbing too keep it clean was a great idea! The filter pit and shed look great, can't wait to see how that all comes together!:like:

Looking for some feed back. Finishing my last outside wall on top of my bond beam. The other side has been done for a week or so and the patio side for a few weeks. I left every other cell open on top of the beam, wanted to be able to test for if the pond side is water proof. I puta thick mortar coat on the short wall on the inside of the beam with xypex mixed in. Tried a couple of test holes and I do have a small amount of water making to the pond side on a couple of the test holes. Per xypex recommendations I'm going to use mega mix 2 on the walls, my concern is will I have a good seal around all my large stones with the mega mix 2? I'm going to add more mortar to fill in under the stone work and between them before I do the finale coat of mega mix. Wondering if I should just fill the voids completely with mortar, and go heavier on the xypex add? Or if the mega mix 2 should be a water tight seal around the rocks. Also I read it takes water to start the xypex process. Maybe I should retest after a couple days? Appreciate any feedback.
