I got an e-mail from Miwa this morning with her father's choice for the winner. Mr. Sakai picked the top three of the growout and also has comments for some of the other Koi. The best overall winner is Gail Lord. This is what Mr. Sakai wrote; "Gail... Overall, good sumi is coming outon her...

The WWKC is pleased and proud to announce the WWKC PSKOI Sakai Atarashi Sumi Showa Growout. Order Form Thread (http://www.koiphen.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1229911) The approximately 8-12 inch tosai showas will be offered for $115.00 starting on April 1, 2008. However, members of the WWKC...
I have attached a bunch of the selections so far. When you select your showa, please post here and attach the pic. Feel free to let us know why you picked the particular showa. I am missing a couple so those of you who I am missing, please fill in.
There will be two rounds of picking. In the first round everyone will get 1 pick. In the second round you do all of the picks that you have left. If you have a total of four picks you will do one in the first round and three in the second round. I would like to have you pick in groups of five at a...
So both of my koi are still doing well. With the recent filter upgrade I can actually take pictures of the. Sorry but I just can't drain 21K gal just to bowl and photo. My guess they are 14-16" #17 is quite active love the pattern, #13 is more of a bottom dweller, don't love the pattern but...
I was fortunate to pick quite early (#8), which is great except for the fact that I am quite indecisive! There were a number of fish that I thought were interesting, but I selected this one for the following reasons. The conformation appears to be reasonable, although the picture is not from...
Here's my rationale, or maybe rationalization for 79. I know we are first to look for body (after eliminating defects) but my skills at that are not so good particularly when I can't make a direct comparison to others. Also, since these come from Matsunoke lineage, the little I know about...
My 2 picks
I originally traded Saltiery for another pick, but mine met an unfortunate accident. So I have raised her fish thus far, here are our results.I will add that these photos could have been better but it was getting late into the afternoon when i got home today. The white of this fish is...
Warm weather today. Pulled these two from the pond and took pics and measurements. Water temp is 60 today. Excuse my photagraphy skills.:eek1: Very hard working without assistant and keeping one's subjects still enough to snap a few quick ones. Here is a brief history. I chose #18 in the...
My guy/gal is the one with the sumi down the middle of his face. This is in the parking lot of the Delta Cargo area around 1:00 AM after a super-frustrating encounter with the Delta lady. Anyhooz, finally got our fish! The cooler is exactly ten inches, so I'm guestimating he/she is about 8''. ...
Here they are! I got them about a week ago, but had to get some pics. 1st one has alot of sumi comming up. Nice little fishie. The second one has alot of beni, but I see shadows of sumi that will hopefully show up. The second one is interesting because it has very large conformation. I would have...
Here is the picture of my pick.
I want to post my new arrivals first then when I have more time I will post about their saga to get here. Hope you enjoy their picture.
Here are the kois. They arrived at 1 AM last night. The pics are taking right after the shipping. They look very healthy and nice from a long flight. They ate this morning!!!!
Well my fish arrived safe and sound and right on time! They have been floated, decanted, photoed, and are now in their new home -500 gallons apiece! Here are their debut photos.
Here they are. These were both "random" selections. I wish I took better pictures. They are both a little over 7 inches (or a little under 8). I am thrilled to have them. Thank you Russ and Kari,:cheer: and thank you Koiphen!! :cheer: With flash lighting: Without the flash:
these were some nice fish to pick from....my first pick was after 23 fish were already picked....so my first couple of choices were gone....my wife really wanted fish 53 which was picked just before my turn.....oh well.......i am happy with this fish....number 14........it is different than any...
Most of the fish I was really interested in were chosen before it was my turn. Out of the ones remaining I had originally passed this one by, but once I turned to so it faced down it really started to grow on me. The shiro is outstanding and I think it will have a good bit of sumi coming up...
not sure about my picks but I do like this first one.
I was just wondering if anybody could tell me when the final measurements and pics have to be in for the growout. I wouldn't want to miss out.
Me! :D: I got my Showa and a box buddy, a Platinum Goromo, about 20 minutes after touchdown. They are now home and in the QT. I float the shipping bag in my QT for about 30 minutes. I then float a bowl with some QT water and a bit of chloramx in it and then gently dump the cargo bags into...
I haven't posted my grow-outs yet in this forum. I purchased originally 2 Showa's. I kept one myself and gave the other to a friend as a birthday gift. I posted a pic in the main forum after I received them. In the first picture their size is 7". It's the one in the top/right of the picture....
here they are finaly I took the pics last week tell me what you think
EDIT: adding a pic from the other thread of before I got it. Jessie and I weren't sure which fish I lost at first. Glad I could find the original pic of what I chose. Here are pics from 6/16 today when it was being moved.
This is a better picture than what I had to choose the fish from. I can't tell you why I chose it..but I did
I forgot to start a thread on my second pick. This is it. I'm not sure why I picked this one other than I really like the shiro on the tail. Again, I picked one where the beni looks weak, but I am not sure that is really the case. The body looks a little long and the head pointed, because of...
Here's my little beauty from PSKoi. Random pick, they were all nice. This one is a keeper. Female (I think) and seven inches
Thought it would be best if I started a new journal since I ended up with different fish. Russell was more than accommodating after a shipping mix up. Seriously top notch service. Can't say enough good things about Russell and Kari  Here are the original photos, taken by Russ: ...
We finished shipping all of the USA buyers on 6/9/08! Just got our account established to ship to Canada, so we hope to finish the last shipment by the beginning of next week! Thanks to all for participating.
I picked #21. This fish jumped out to me for some reason and I really liked it's pattern. The tail tube is a little messy in sumi and has no beni...but that can change  At first I thought it might have too much sumi, but we'll see!
Sorry no pictures yet. How many still have their fish in quarantine or have put them in the main pond? I have had absolutely no problems with mine. Some of the healthiest fish I ever purchased. Also anyone find any parasites that I may need to look or treat for before this fall? I will...
The bag is floating so pictures will follow later on. So far all looks good. :thumb: Russ & Kari were a pleasure to deal with and I thank them for working with me by keeping them so long. They are showa #'s 39 and 72
Just came less than an hour ago:clap: Marie
These little beauties arrived this morning. Not too shabby for random selections, if I do say so myself. We didn't break out the ruler, but based on sight alone, the larger one appears to be approximately 7" while the smaller one checks in at about 5" or so. After finishing QT, these guys are...
:usa2: Hey there! We are taking Growout fish for the following people to the Louisville Koi Show on Memorial day weekend (please let us know if you'd like to be included - your shipping cost will be much less because of the quantities going there): Carl Carrie Debbie Disponette ...
Ok I figured I better get this posted before I forget, here are our two PSKoi Showa that arrived today:yes:
Having an early pick (9) ended up being a mixed blessing... I was overwhelmed with options and not enough time to decide! I was flip-flopping till the last second, and ended up choosing #64. I really like his head pattern, white nose, and glowing shiro. The amount of hi leaves something to be...
:yahoo: Hi, all! We have started shipping, as you know, and are contacing folks to ship them their fish. PSKoi is a 2 person operation, just me & my sweetie, so we have a lot on our hands getting it organized and out to you (while we goof-off working the store) . But fear not, we'll...
